Reducing accumulated fat from stomach region (abdominal area) is major concern for Indians. It is primarily due to rich carbohydrate intake and sedentary lifestyle that one sees extended belly amongst asians.
These are a few basics you may follow to gradually lose weight from belly:
1. Eat small meals at a gap of 2 hours.
2.Reduce oil consumption to minimum 2-3 teaspoons in a day. That means, no oil.
3. Sugar intake should be restricted to a minimum of 2-3 teaspoons in a day.
4.Ensure that dinner is a simple light meal and preferably 2 hours before bed time.
5. Drink plenty of water through out the day.
6. Eat plenty of raw vegetables like salads with meals.
7. Exercise is important. Brisk walking of atleast 30 minutes will help.

You need to have a two pronged startegy for reducing the fat from stomach area i.e Diet and excercise.
Start having your desired calories from the food that has more proteins.
If you have sedentry lifestyle then start with mild workout or even with walking. Increase the pace of your walking with the passage of time.
There are workouts available esp for abs / stomach, but first you should try walking and create a habit of doing some physical activity for 30 mins daily.
