Be it the Roman, Chinese or Indian; all appreciate the fact that food plays more our role in our lives than just providing nourishment. It has satisfied hunger, cravings, entertained and pleased us. Food seems to be a unifying force for many activities that happen on this planet including in our bedrooms.

Herbs and aphrodisiacs have potential significance in spicing up a bored couple’s night. A Bollywood flick is not complete without the Indian Honeymoon scene wherein the blush bride offers a glass full of milk laced with Saffron (Kesar) to her groom. Amusing to some, but till date all newly married couples are offered almonds and dry dates to eat by elders in an Indian household.

Aphrodisiacs market is also raising big bucks for the dealers. To as exotic as Rhino horns to as simple Hersheys Kisses, these indigenous ingredients claim to raise the passion bar for many. But, some experts challenge it’s efficacy.

Many trash the use of aphrodisiacs while others swear upon it’s potency. Many experts believe that passion is a state of mind and respecting the partner’s state of mind is more essential. Moreover, being in good body shape, following a fitness regime, losing weight or maintaining healthy weight are known to be healthier options to increasing the self esteem.

Besides, a regular exercise eating a healthy wholesome diet is important. The aphrodisiac foods cannot be ridiculed but can be accepted as foods that put more nutrition into your body rather than through putting some energizing spell on one’s manhood. Neelanjana Singh, consultant dietician, Pushpavati Singhania Research Institute, New Delhi, mentioned in an article that aphrodisiac foods like banana, milk, honey, almonds, truffles and chocolates that should be acknowledged as foods that rev up a man's libido just like there are certain sleep inducing foods .It is the amino acid profile of these foods that contributes to this quality.

DesiDieter did some research and is bringing forward a few facts learnt about foods that can spice up your bedroom life:

Red Chillies- Capsaicin, a chemical found in red chillies may increase circulation to get blood pumping and stimulates nerve endings so you'll feel more turned on.

Avaocados- Rich in Vit E enhances hormones like testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone, which circulate in your bloodstream and get you in the mood.

Bananas – A fruit which is calorie dense and rich in potassium provides all that it takes to keep you going longer.

Pomegranates- The fruit from heaven is brimming with antioxidants that can distress you and add potential healthy years to your age.

Watermelon -The juicy fruit contains the phytonutrient citrulline, which leads to an uptick in the amount of nitric oxide in your body. That spike causes blood vessels to relax and speeds up circulation.

Besides, dish out on some vanilla, nuts, honey, walnuts, soy milk as fun meals before night.
