Re: Cholesterol
My hat is off to your astute coammnd over this topic-bravo!
Cholesterol is a lipid molecule which is not soluble in water and watery substances like blood. So, it is combined with proteins and called as lipoprotein. As per the density of lipid ie cholesterol molecule it is divided as high density, low density and very low density lipoprotein.
So, HDL stands for High density lipoprotein and LDL for Low density lipoprotein.
HDL is good cholesterol and LDL is known as bad cholesterol. one msu have high amount of HDL cholesterol and low LDL cholesterol. HDL choletserol keeps heart and arteries safe and healthy. LDL clogs up arteries and lead to heart problems.
HDL cholesterol comes from fish, nuts, olive oil etc...High fiber foods such as whole grains, cereals, fresh fruits etc helps in controlling total choletserol levels in blood.
LDL cholesterol can increase duet to consumption of Egg yolk, fatty fish, poultry, trans fat etc...
