A poor appetite is common in TB. Make the meals exciting and innovative to
encourage the person to eat.
The energy needs of a person are increased by 300-500 calories in TB.
A high energy, high protein diet is recommended. Ensure intake of good quality
proteins like milk and eggs. For non-vegetarians meats are good.. Using a cereal and
pulse combination can enhance the protein quality of food; so make sure you give rice
and chapatti with daals and add channa or soya atta to your flour while making
chapattis.
The patient needs enough calcium and iron. Make sure you give them milk and milk
products, green leafy vegetables and meats in the diet.
Intake of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin D are important in TB.
Too much fat or fried food may upset the stomach.
Sample 3-day diet for Tuberculosis:

3/4 cup muesli with 1 cup milk
Any fruit/ handful of nuts
Kadhi with rice Salad
Suji upma with carrots, beans and peanuts

Multigrain Egg Sandwich with a glass of milk
Any fruit/ handful of nuts
Paneer Peas Subzi with Rotis
(add channa/soya aata to the flour)Salad
Vegetable cutlets
Chicken Curry or Dal With
Rice Kheera tamatar and peanut raita
1 glass fresh mint coriander juice
3/4 cup sweet daliya with milk
Any fruit/ handful of nuts
Rajmah with rice Salad
Paneer pakodas
Egg bhurji Rotis Carrot raita
