How many calories should a 14 year old, 5 - 5.2 feet tall, 113 pounds girl eat a day to lose 13 pounds. Right now i do about 60 min of hula hooping on a weighed hula hoop (2.5 lb) once in the morning and once at night. Anyway I was wondering how many calories do I burn a day and how many calories should I eat to lose 13 pounds.

Answer: What you should do is count the calories you consume on the average day. Then subtract 500 calories and that is what you should be eating to lose weight. This is called a 500 calorie deficit and it is a scientifically proven guaranteed way to lose weight. Also, if you are interested in cardio, try going for an actual sprint or do squats. Weighted hula-hooping is nowhere near intense enough to have a significant effect. One intense sprint for as far as you can go each day will have a much bigger effect on fat loss. Not the calories you eat but the calories that raise the temp of 1 cc of water 1 degree C. Would 1000 calories be a good guess?

Answer: It's not constant but the avarage value is about 42MJ/KG. That would be 10,000,000 calroies / KG. A gallon of jet fuel weighs about 3.1 KG. So that would be 31 million calories. Most of measurements for food are taken in Calories (with a capital C) which is equal to 1000 calories. Your estimate of 1000 caloris is 1 food calorie or 1 Cal which is way too low. A gallon of vegetable oil also contains 31 million calories or 31,000 Calories.
