I just got diagnosed. I am still taking antibiotics. how did you change your diet? I don't know why I got it. I already eat a high fiber diet and do not eat fast food.

Answer: My former boyfriend had this, and so did my Grandmother. You need to just remember to eat healthy foods, vary your intake, and try to avoid things like popcorn, raspberries, strawberries and such which would catch in those "pockets". Many people don't eat nuts, or anything seedy or fibrous, including whole grain bread or oatmeal. It makes sense to get enough fiber, but the type of fiber makes all the difference. You will really need to ask your doctor or other practitioner about what to eat. In both cases, those I knew, just avoided foods they knew would aggravate. They both also took fiber supplements which helped move things along in a more gentle way... Good luck, you can handle this, and you'll feel much better once your guts get closer to normal.

What is the best alternitive medicine for a touch of diverticulitis with out using any doctor prescribed crap?

Answer: It's something to take seriously. For now, do as your doctor says, take the antibiotics if he/she recommends them. After this episode passes, look toward your log-term health; change your diet, slowly increase the amount of fiber, fruits, and vegetables in your diet. Your colon will thank you!
