I was currently on weight watchers, didn't loose much.I recently found out that I have hypothyroid diesese. What diet would I bennifet from?

Answer: Ask your doctor first what diet and exercise program you should be on with this disease. The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better: *1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities. *2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement. Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water. Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d *3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities. Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety. *5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. i hv hypothyroid wd tsh 43...wat shud i do ? N wt diet plan shud i follow ? i feel very tired ol d tym. pls also tl a gud doctor in dElhi ...pls help me.!

Answer: Diet won't do it. With hypothyroidism, you aren't producing enough of the thyroid hormone and your metabolism is slowing down. As for a good doctor in Delhi - go to a reputable hospital and speak with a endocrinologist. You need medication - a synthetic hormone to boost your hormone level.

I have hypothyroid and finally have my levels under control, has anyone had any good results with a certain kind of diet and this problem. Thanks for your help!

Answer: Are you really sure that your levels are right? Just being in range is not enough, especially when you are trying to lose weight. Basically if on T4, you need the TSH (morning reading only) to be around 1.0. If its above 2.0 weight loss will be almost impossible. Your metabolism is never the same as it was, even on meds so you need to get the levels right, watch diet, and exercise at least 4 times a week. As far as diet, reduce carbs and increase fiber. Limit or avoid soy. If your morning TSH has been around 1.0 for a long time and you are still having problems it may be because you are not converting enough T4 into T3. To find this out, get a free t3 test. If its below midrange you may be helped by a T4/T3 med like Armour or Thyrolar. Link to thyroid diet forum below I am hypothyoid and on Armour thyroid. I feel great! I di not lose weight with meds, diet and exercise. This was because I developed insulin resistance from the weight I gained while hypo. Once on metformin ER to treat the insulin resistance weight loss was easier with diet and exercise.
