Ingredients:

Tender carrots   1/4 kg
Small onions peeled   12
Green chillies   3 (slit lengthwise)
Thick tamarind extract   3 tbsp
Salt as required  
Sambhar powder   2 –3 tsp
Cooked mashed thuar dhal   ½ to ¾ cup
Curry leaves   few
Coriander leaves   for garnishing
For seasoning:  
Mustard and urad dhal   ¼ tsp each
Oil   1tsp
 

Method:

  • Scrape outer skin of carrots and slice into thin round pieces.
  • Keep carrots, onions on top container while pressure-cooking dhal.
  • Add tamarind extract, salt, green chillies, cooked vegetable, sambhar powder to mashed dhal and dilute with enough water.
  • Cook till desired consistency is reached.
  • Add seasonings, curry leaves, coriander leaves just before removing from fire.
  • Serve hot with cooked rice.
