Ingredients:

Rice   2 Cups
Tur Dal   1¼ Cup
Grated Coconut   1 Cup
Oil   2 tsp
Dried Coconut (Copra)   ½ Cup
Beans   250 g
Carrots   2
Potatoes   2
Small Onions   ¼ Kg
A Pinch Of Turmeric Powder  
Tamarind Pulp   2 Tsp
Red Chillies   10
Mustard Seeds   2 Tsp
Jeera Seeds   ¼ Tsp
Coriander Seeds   ½ Tsp
Channa Dal   1 tsp
Urad Dal   1 tsp
Pepper   ¼ tsp
Fenugreek Seeds   ¼ Tsp
Clove   1
Aniseeds   ¼ Tsp
Poppy Seeds   ½ Tsp
Cardamoms   2
Cinnamon   2 sticks
Cashew Nut   20g
Curry Leaves Few  
Coriander Leaves Few  
Ghee   3 tsp
Salt to Taste  
 

Method:

  • Cut vegetables in uniform sizes and slice onions.
  • Wash rice and dal thoroughly.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder and chopped vegetables (except onion) and cook in adequate water.
  • Heat little ghee and fry channa dal, urad dal, pepper, cumin, coriander, fenugreek, and poppy seeds, aniseeds, cinnamon, cardamoms, red chillies.
  • Grind these into mixture along with grated coconut.
  • Heat oil, add mustard seeds. When mustard crackles, add curry leaves. Add tamarind juice, the grinded masala and salt to taste.
  • Add to the boiled rice, mix well and cook for 5 mins.
  • Add grated copra.
