Urad dhal   1 cup
Rava   2 Tbsp
Black pepper   2 tsp(powdered coarsely)
Jeera seeds   1 tsp
Oil   1 tsp
Salt to taste  


  • Soak dhal in water for 20 minutes. Drain water and grind it coarsely with very little water. Then add hot oil, rava, pepper,jeera seeds & salt to the ground dhal and mix well.
  • Make small balls out of this paste and keep it in a plastic sheet or a small plantain leaf and flatten it with wet hands. Make a hole in the center. Deep fry this in hot oil till both sides turns brown and crisp.
