Ingredients:

Lauki   100 g
Potatoes   100 g (2 small)
Salt   1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder   1/4 tsp
Green chilli   1
Garam masala   1/4 tsp
Onion   30 g
Curd   30 g
Haldi   1/8 tsp
Jeera   1/4 tsp
Fat   1 tbsp
 

Method:

  • Scrape, wash and cut lauki into half lengthwise.
  • Scoop out the center, chop and keep aside.
  • Boil, peel and mash potatoes.
  • Heat 1 tsp fat in a pan, add 1/4 tsp jeera, 1/8 tsp red chilli powder, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, chopped green chilli, 1/4 tsp salt and the scooped out centre portion of lauki.
  • Mix thoroughly and cook covered for a few minutes. Keep aside.
  • In the same pan, heat 2 tsp fat and add rest of the dry spices, salt and curds. Add 1/2 teacup water.
  • Fill lauki with the prepared potato mixture and keep it in the curd mixture in the pan.
  • Cover pan and steam till lauki is soft and the masala fairly dry.
  • Serve hot sprinkled with garam masala.
