Broken Wheat/ Dalia – 30 gms
Onion-  1 small
Carrot- 1 medium
Capsicum- 1 small
Tomato- 1 small
Green chilli- 1
Ginger- grated ½ teaspoon
Lemon Juice- ½ a lemon
Salt- to taste
Curry Leaves- few
Mustard Seeds- ½ teaspoon
Olive oil- ½ teaspoon
Water- twice the amount of broken wheat



  1. Sautee onions and finely chopped vegetables in a pressure cooker until tender but not soggy.
  2. Add the broken wheat and sautee for few seconds.
  3. Add water, salt, lemon juice and pressure cook for two large whistles.
  4. Let this rest for 15 minutes before opening the cooker.
  5. Temper with mustard seeds, green chillies, grated ginger and curry leaves in bit of oil.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or curd.
