Recipe Name: Masoor Dal with Rice

Prep Time Cook Time Serves



Rice   100g
Masoor dhal   1/2 cup
Cumin seeds   1 tsp
Green chillies, slit   2
Cauliflower pieces   100g
Carrots, diced   2 tbsp
Turmeric powder   1/4 tsp
Tomato, sliced   1
Chopped coriander leaves   1 tbsp
Oil   2 tsp
Salt to taste.  


  • Cook the rice. Cool and keep aside.
  • Cook the dhal in a pressure cooker. Add 2-1/2 teacups of water to the cooked dal and beat well. Heat the oil and fry the cumin seeds for a while.
  • Add the onion slices and green chillies and cook for a while.
  • Add the cooked dhal, cauliflower, carrots, turmeric and salt and cook for 10 minutes on a slow flame.
  • Finally, add the tomato and chopped coriander and cook for a few minutes.
  • Serve the dhal with the cooked rice
