Cataract is a cloudy area in the lens or lens capsule of the eye. Cataract formation can be viewed very similarly to hardening of the arteries. The human lens, which becomes a cataract, is really a series of membranes, much like those that line our blood vessels. A cataract blocks or distorts light entering the eye. Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide.

  • Pupils (which are normally black) appear milky white.

Grind equal amounts of Turmeric (Haldi) and Mulethi finely and mix with an equal amount of triphala choorna. For example- 2.5 g Turmeric + 2.5 g Mulethi + 5 g Triphala make 10 gms of required mixture. Consume 5 gms of this mixture with an equal amount of cow ghee or honey twice a day. Don't take anything for 30 minutes, before and after taking this mixture.

Triphala is an Ayurvedic herbal formula consisting of equal parts of three myrobalans, taken without seed: Aamla (Emblica officinalis), Vibhitaka(Terminalia bellirica), and Haritaki(Terminalia chebula). The mixture of these three is easily available in the market in powder form. Turmeric and Mulethi are available at any grocers shop.
  • A fast of orange juice and water for 3 days is recommended, when you start this therapy.
  • Take raw vegetables, salads, figs and soaked raisins.
  • Avoid boiled potatoes, cream, rice and strong tea or coffee.
  • Exposure to heat and bright light should be avoided.
Other Remedies
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of gulabjal (Rose water) with 1 teaspoon of fresh lime juice. Put 10 drops of it in the eyes, three times daily.
  • Soak 100 gms of reetha (Soap nut) in one liter water over night. Then boil this water and strain. Put a drop or two in the eyes, just before going to bed.
