Morning Sickness

A number of women complain of nausea, and some of vomiting early in the morning during the first few weeks of pregnancy. Morning sickness, which can actually occur at any time of the day, can really dampen your excitement about being pregnant. Morning sickness is extremely common. It occurs in about half of all pregnant women. Morning sickness usually begins during the first month of pregnancy. Symptoms usually start after the third week of the missed periods. They generally subside at 6-8 weeks, but may last for three months. Anything more than this is not normal and needs medical attention.

Take 1/2 to 1 tsp of Wild yam root every day. It will help you in dealing with your morning sickness.

  • Always keep lemon slice or freshly prepared lemon juice along your bedside. Lemon is quite effective in reducing vomiting or nausea or morning sickness.
  • Drink plenty of fluid, water, fresh fruit juice, etc. This keeps the body temperature in control and reduces the nausea or vomiting tendency.
  • Take apple extract vinegar with honey at night, before going to sleep. Mix equal amount (one tablespoon) of both vinegar and honey in a cup of water and take this mixture.
  • Keep your room fresh and clean. Take sufficient sunlight and do not stay too much in dark, as this will cause nervousness and will result in vomiting.
  • Use a good fragrance room freshener like lavender, mint that soothes your nerves and makes you feel comfortable.
  • Do not eat spicy foods that are difficult to digest. They not only cause morning sickness but also increase the heat of the body. This could endanger the very life of the fetus and lead to a spontaneous abortion.

  • Drinking ginger tea early in the morning is highly helpful in reducing morning sickness.
  • Take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and one tablespoon honey in cold water before going to sleep at night. This is one of the good home remedies for morning sickness.
  • Mix one teaspoon limejuice, mint juice, and a tablespoon sugar in a glass of water. Drink this thrice a day.
  • It is not better to keep the stomach empty. For this, six small meals rather than three large meals are recommended.
  • Fried and fatty foods should be restricted.
  • Good amount of vitamin B and calcium should be incorporated in the diet.
  • Eat a high protein snack before going to sleep at night.
  • The best treatment for morning sickness is sufficient rest.
