Edema is the accumulation of fluid in spaces between the cells in the soft tissues of the body. Any part of the body may develop edema. The swelling can be localized on the face, arms, and neck, or may involve the legs and ankles-a condition known as dependent edema. Periorbital edema is swelling around the eyes. Corneal stroma is edema of the cornea. Generalized edema is known as anasarca.
Edema Turmeric powder is considered as an effective cure for treating edema because of its cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties. The anti-inflammatory property of turmeric can help in relieving pain and swelling. Red sandalwood is also effective in treating inflammation. You can make a paste of equal amount of dry turmeric powder and red sandalwood powder and apply it.
Diet: Edema is caused due to water retention in the body and hence avoid salt intake. Completely avoid putting salt in your food till the time you fully recover. Avoid eating packaged food, as it has too much salt in it.
Reduce Carbohydrates: Your carbohydrate intake per day should also be bought in control, as carbohydrates are rich in water content. Include protein rich and fat rich food in your diet.
Exercising: Make exercising a part of your daily routine. This will keep all your body parts well in function. The morning walks are also effective, as they give you fresh air.
Avoid Smoking and Drinking: smoking is injurious to health, so avoid it completely. Drinking alcohol should also be avoided as far as possible.
Avoid vegetables and Fruits: Vegetables and fruits are rich in water content, so reduce the intake of vegetables and fruits till you get recovered form edema.
Crushed Flax Seeds: Flax seeds can be a good relief for edema. You can crush the seeds and powder them out. You can sprinkle this powder on your food to consume it directly. But those who do not like the taste of the seeds can opt for another application. There is oil made from the flax seeds which can be applied on the affected area. This is especially helpful for pregnant women suffering from edema.
Mustard Oil: Mustard oil provides a complete solution to edema. You can take some warm mustard oil in your palms and massage the affected area gently. The other way is to soak about two tea spoons of mustard seeds in water and applying the solution on the edematous region.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar removes extra fluids from the cells of the body and it results in removal of edema.
Coriander Seeds: Coriander seeds are considered to be the best remedy for edema. Take a few tea spoons of coriander seeds and boil them with water till the quantity reduces to half of the actual amount. Filter the solution and consume the whole amount at one go. This will provide an assured solution to edema.
